Friendship bracelets are the accessory of the moment

Top names pushing the friendship trend included Ettika, Charlene K, PurseN, Bora, Betty Carre, Sara Designs, Design by Yagi, Angel Court, Rebel, Snö of Sweden, Blee Inara, Cumi, Sabrina Love, Drozak Studio and Saints + Sirens. But whilst the string friendship bracelets we know and love are still respectable enough to be worn and treasured, it was the "updated" friendship bracelet that featured at the show - with woven and brightly coloured designs featuring alongside leather and friendship bracelets with as many crystals as possible. Befriending the troops

This year, BFF Entertainment and the American Freedom Foundation (AFF) celebrated "National Best Friends Day" by releasing what they described as the 'ultimate friendship bracelet', with a view to "connecting today's military with America". The charitable project which was initially launched last year, has managed to sell over 10,000 friendship bracelets all in support of America's troops.

The camouflage coloured bracelet set includes the signature "BFF" charm, is bought and then registered with a specific engraved number - this is sent on to the armed forces and connects you with your new "BFF" overseas. At time of writing, the bracelet set costs $10 and 25% of the proceeds benefit the American Freedom Foundation.

Interspecies friendship bracelets?

At the Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth, Minn, the concept of the friendship bracelet is taken to a new, interspecies level. According to Susan Wolniakowksi, director of Guest Services at the zoo, one of her store's top jewellery items is the 'buddy bracelet', a woven bracelet combined with a silver chain. In this variation on the friendship bracelet, each design represents a different zoo animal "friend". "The kids can be 'buddies' with the polar bear, tigers etc" she said. The longest friendship bracelet?

In the Guinness World Records Classroom Challenge that was held on Friday, May 20th 2011 in Owingsville, KY, the students of Owingsville Elementary School were announced to be grand-prize winners having created the world's longest friendship bracelet. On the School's football field, the students at the school made a staggering 3,799 links, connecting these together to make a single bracelet that measured a whopping 810 feet.
